I would have liked to write a long post about Satipo road, where I shall be heading in a couple of days, since there now is a basic lodge to stay (see top picture). The community is running a lodge for birders (see the top photo). All this as a result of taking a few locals to Mindo in Ecuador, where they could see with their own eyes how local farmers became birding services entrepreneurs – such as the case of Angel Paz and his Giant Antpitta Maria -and the fundraising of RainForest Partnership (yes you can donate to the project on that link). Now the people of Calabaza/Apaya are committed to become eco-tourism service providers.
But this post will not be long since it is almost midnight when I write this and tomorrow I have to be up early birding near Oxapampa.
Central Peru birding route video
Instead I thought I’d share a video about the birding in Central Peru produced by PromPeru a few years ago. You may recognize the birder. Enjoy!
The video is very professional. In spite of the good quality, there are two quite bold mistake that only a birder can discover. See if you can spot them!
