Santa explained

Santa has no time to rest

Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with due to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, providing he travels from East to West. He has to deal with 1800 household visits per second.
Birdingblogs own GrrlScientist writes today in the Guardian:

How does Santa visit billions of homes all around the globe in just one night? Is this just a load of hogwash that your parents tell you so you’ll eat your overcooked vegetables and go to bed early without making a fuss?

Even though I was just a child at the time and hadn’t heard of Pascal’s Wager, I was intuitively aware of its implications, so I decided it couldn’t hurt to play along with The Adults, just to, you know, keep them happy in their delusions. But I admit I lost sleep on Christmas Eve, trying to figure out how did Santa do it? Being a thoughtful young scientist, I was unable to accept The Adults’ vapid explanation that Santa is “magic”.
