Quarter finals. World Bird Cup
Past Games.
It was tough, wasn’t it? How can one choose, when they all are good birds. And why was your favorite missing? It didn’t make through the Facebook filter last week. Yet, here we are with 8 matches played and entering the quarterfinals. You can check the results from round 2 by clicking on View results.
There were some interesting results. Some very close games. I have highlighted the winner in bold.
Spoon-billed Sandpiper vs Ibisbill
Marvelous Spatuletail vs Long-whiskered Owlet,
Harpy Eagle vs Blue Bird of Paradise – very close game
Replendent Quetzal vs Philippine Eagle
Shoebill vs Inca Tern very close game
Snowy Owl vs Wilson’s Bird-of-Paradise
Wandering Albatross vs Ivory Gull
Emperor Penguin vs Kakapo
One thing that surprised me was the match between Replendent Quetzal and Philippine Eagle. That match had 665 votes, while the others had only around 500. It seems obvious there must have been some campaigning for Philippine Eagle. Maybe, I should be a bit clearer. This is a game for birders, not something that should be used to show off some national pride or promote a specific birding destination.
For the next round, I will only count votes from people who have voted in all matches. Consequently, it will not be worth to campaign for votes in a particular match.
Quarter final.
Here are the next matches. You can check the photos of each in last weeks post.
