Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager (Anisognathus igniventris)

I am going to the Nature Pavilion in Costa Rica. Should I bring a 500 or 600 mm lens and use with a full frame or cropped sensor camera. Teleconverter etc.
What do you recommend. I use Canon.
